Anna Viebrock has received many awards as a "stage designer" or "costume designer" in recent years. But she is more than that: she is a stage inventor. She is a stage architect. Her stage spaces are at least twofold: convincing images of the big picture and at the same time an infinitely loving collection of the smallest, carefully observed and selected details. She never creates places of comforting and homely wellness, but mostly places of what is frightening in its ordinariness. They create a "life too true to be beautiful".This year Anna Viebrock receives the Zurich Festival Prize for outstanding artistic achievements and her contribution to cultural life in Zurich. From 2001 to 2004 she developed a particularly close relationship with the city under the artistic direction of Christoph Marthaler as a member of the management team of the Schauspielhaus - her debut as a director also took place here with "In Vain" and "Reproduktion verboten". On the occasion of this award, the volume documents her artistic work in the city and canton of Zurich. With an introductory essay by Stefanie Carp.
